Ben Norris

Qualifications

Ben earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Economics, cum laude, from the Lewis College of Business at Marshall University in 2017. While at Marshall, he was a member of the men’s soccer team and received the Conference USA Commissioner’s Academic Medal in recognition of his academic achievement. He then returned to his hometown of Nashville, Tennessee, where he earned his Juris Doctor from Belmont University College of Law. Following his first year of law school, Ben joined Eraclides Gelman as a law clerk and remained with the firm until becoming licensed to practice law.

Ben’s practice focuses on the defense of employers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators in workers’ compensation claims and workers’ compensation subrogation throughout the state of Tennessee. In addition to securing numerous defense verdicts at the trial court level, Ben has successfully represented his clients in significant appellate matters before both the Tennessee Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board and the Tennessee Supreme Court, including Acevedo v. Crown Paving and Oldham v. Freeman Webb. These cases addressed important issues involving the jurisdiction of the Court of Workers’ Compensation Claims, workers’ compensation procedure, and the interpretation of the Post-Reform Act statutory framework for permanency benefits.

Beyond his litigation practice, Ben is a frequent speaker and author on Tennessee workers’ compensation law. He regularly presents educational seminars for employers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators and publishes commentaries on significant appellate decisions, legislative developments, and other emerging issues impacting workers’ compensation in Tennessee.
