Morgan’s Tip of the Week – WC Legislative Update

Greetings, I have been getting a lot of questions about what is going on in the Fla Legislature regarding proposed changes to the WC law.

A bill has passed the House of Representatives and a Senate bill has passed committee but will need to be voted on by the entire Senate.  And then a reconciled bill will need to be sent to the Governor for signature.  The legislative session ends in 10 days, so in reality nothing may get passed into law.

The House bill contains some good provisions; fixing the 5-days for 1-time changes, limiting claimant attorney fees to $150 an hour max, etc…but until or unless something is finalized, no sense in delving into the details.

I will keep you in the loop.

And as an aside, happy-ish 1 year anniversary to the Castellanos decision on Friday.

Sincerely,
