Morgan’s Tip of the Week- Annual FL WC stats
Greetings,
DOAH (Division of Administrative Hearings) just published their annual report, and it is a great study of where WC is today in Florida. Below is a link to the report, but do not hit print unless you have a spare ream of paper just laying around, it is 282 pages.
The study covers DOAH’s fiscal year, so these figures are from 7/1/2022 to 6/30/2023.
Some noteworthy statistics:
- Overall litigation is increased. There was a 6.8% increase in petitions filed on both new and existing claims. 76,633 PFB’s were filed, that is the highest number since 2006-2007.
- Litigation on new claims also increased, there were 3.8% more newly litigated claims. 32,045 new litigated claims were filed, the highest number since 2008-2009.
- However, the total amount of fees paid to claimant’s attorneys decreased by 3.6%
- 36% of all claims settled/resolved all issues at the State mediation.
The report breaks down many statistics by venue as well.
Just in case I do not have a chance to speak with some of you before the holidays, have a happy holidays and a great and safe new year! As always we appreciate your business!
